Return to the Rockies

Well, it’s the holiday season, and time to get out and explore the mountains! I have been adjusting to the new snowpack back in Montana, and meeting up with old friends.  Here are a few photos from my first two days of skiing back in Montana.  Needless to say, it has been deep, but problems lie under the snowpack which may keep the holiday season a tree skiing event.  Regardless, it feels great to be putting the boots on from the back door and getting reacquainted with this place.

First pit in the rockies! The interface I am most worried about is the facets that are below this most recent storm. With the new snow piling up, its definitely time to dig and analyze this layer. Also, I am getting used to this program, so the bottom layer is depth hoar (F) 3. East Aspect.

The chutes are still filling in.
